                                            Ready to serve Masala beetroot sand witch with tomato sauce

Beetroot the red co-lour veggie changes totally the co-lour of the dish giving very attractive co-lour to the dish.  Beetroot is the main ingredient in any cutlet for sure to give an attractive colour to it.  I have already  put up a few dishes like the Beetroot sasam, upkari, beetroot-chana masala etc.  Today i would like to put up this sand-witch which can be prepared sparingly at one’s leisure provided the masala is ready in the refrigerator!!!!Here goes the recipe.

What you need to have:

1. Grated Beetroot – 2 cups

2. Cumin seeds – 1/2 Teaspoon

3. Chopped onions – 2 cups

4. Turmeric powder – 1/2 Teaspoon

5. Chili powder – 1 Teaspoon

6. Garam masala powder – 1/2  Teaspoon

7. Dhania-jeera powder – 1/2 Teaspoon

8. Chat masala – 1 Teaspoon

9. Chopped cilantro – 2 Tablespoons

10. Salt – As needed

What you do with what you have:

1. Wash and chop onions, peal and grate Beetroot and keep it aside as shown in the image above.

2.  Place a wide skillet with 2-3 teaspoons of cooking oil in it on medium flame.  When heated add cumin seeds to it.  Once it splutters, add chopped onions and required quantity of salt to it and fry till transparent.KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

4. Add grated beeetroot and stir well till the water content in the veggie evaporates.  Switch off the flame and add chat masala and cilantro.  On cooling store it in a container in the refrigerator for a period of 15 days and used as masala filling for bread to make sand-witches.KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA                                                                 Ready to stuff Beetroot masala filling

Makes: 40 Sand-witches

 To make the sand witch:

1. Bread slices – As many as you need to make sand-witch

2. Beet root msala – 1 Tablespoon

3. Paneer/cheese  grated – 1 Teaspoon(optional)

 What you do with what you have:

1. Take two bread slices and apply the masla on of the slices  so that it is spread on the whole slice.  Add grated cheese and place another slice over it and bake it in the sand witch maker.  Enjoy with tomato sauce!!!YummmmmmmmmmmmKONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

 Makes – 40

Note: 1. Use fresh and big variety Beetroot for the dish.

2. Use any masala powders of your choice to the masla.

3. It is really handy for employed couple.
