  1. namaste!

can u please enlighten us with exciting recipes which include flax seeds (alsi in hindi, avise ginjalu in telugu) as its main ingredient.

heard this wonderful ingredient has omega-3 fatty acid and is helpful in managing cholesterol levels.

perhaps these recipes can help the hundreds of people who visit this site in the meanwhile too.

    regards

    sid

    • Hello Sid,

Infact you enlightened me with the nutritional value of Alsi. After your request and one from another reader, I looked it up and tried to find recipes using Alsi. Sorry for the really long delay, however I myself tried and tested recipes using alsi seeds only recently. I have just put up Alsi seeds dry chutney powder that you can use along with rotis, or dosas, or idlis. I will soon try other recipes and put them up in due course.

      Prathiba.

  2. Hello Pratibha Pachi,

From the last 3 days day in and out I’m trying out different recipes posted by you and they are just turning out excellent. I tried out Nippat, Shevai, pineapple pudding, almond burfi and now want to try out the others too. they are truly no-fail and exact recipes.. Tomorrow I shall try Maida chakuli and see how it turns.

I live in Bahrain and after seeing your site I feel I was in mangalore it feels really good.. Keep up the good work and we would like to see more items on the site..BTW since its rainy season can you post alambe bhutti??

    Best Regards,

    Shilpa Rao

    • Hi Shilpa,

Thanx a lot for ur commments. Please pass on the link to ur friends. I think i can post alambe ambat this time, but bhuthi could be cext year since the season is over. The rains were untimely and alambe was scanty so i have the recipe of alambe ambat in my list. prepared and posted last year. I will post that soon.

  3. Hello Mrs Rao,

I just chanced upon your blog ! Excellent ! Good work ! I have not yet tried any of the recipes but have already prepared a mental list of the recipes I am going to for the next few weeks.

    Thank you for sharing ,
    S.Pai

  4. Hello mai,

My name is Anu. I am a GSB married to a Saraswath. I am quite aware (though i may not cook all of them) of the GSB recipes. But i would like to request you about the Saraswath cuisine. I am not very much aware of their cuisine. I have been married only for a year now and live in the US ever since so i didn’t get time to spend with my mother-in-law to get hold of their recipes.
Mai, if you have any idea, please do post the recipes. It would be very nice.
I haven’t yet prepared any of the recipes you have posted. But today i plan to start with Vermicilli biryani. But looking through all the recipes you have put, reminded me of my mother and her cooking. Oh how i miss that. You really transported me home. Thank you for that.
I am going to be a regular at your blog from now on. :)

    • Thats the problem main, i have no clue what dishes they make. My mother-in-law was born and brought up in Maharashtra so most of her dishes are Maharashtrian. But if i could know atleast a few dishes of the Saraswath community it would be nice.
My husband loves konkani cuisine. So at your leisure, if you come across something, please remember me. :)
      Thanks for the trouble.
Oh by the way, i tried vermicilli biryani yesterday and it was simply superb. Loved it. I have soaked Moth and peanuts today to make Matki masala in a day or two. Will keep you posted about it. :)

      • Hi Anu,

Thanx a lot 4 ur update. Please mail me the feed back as and when u prepare the dishes from this blog, so that i can correct myself 4 any mistakes. I have some friends here and will try out some recipes and put up leisurely.

  5. Hello Mrs. Rao,
I love the Konkani recipes on your blog. They are great and never fail. I have a request – can you post the recipe for Kolmbo pitti? My MIL makes one which she uses in vegetables as well as kolmbo but I am never able to recreate it at home. Want to give it a try. Thanks in advance.

    • Hi Neetha,

Somehow I missed out on replying to you.
This website is dedicated to vegetarian recipes, as I am a vegetarian by habit.

Hope you have managed to find some good recipes here. Happy Diwali !

      Prathiba

    • Dear Mai,

I love your website! there are times when I want to cook an authentic konkani dish and I am doubtful about the recipe and I can’t call my mom in India because she would be sleeping…now I can check to see if it is on your website. I have browsed several recipe blogs and your presentation is really good…and to the point.

My request is that you continue to add more quick (30 minutes or less) dinner recipes for working couples, who want to eat fresh home made food everyday, but can’t always cook an elaborate meal.

      Thanks again!

  9. I loved your food blog.I have sent its link to several friends of mine.I am new to surfing. How can I search for a particular recipe on your blog ?
    neela

    • Hi Neela,

      Sorry for the delayed reply.

We have been facing some difficulty organizing an efficient ‘search’ toolbar – mostly constrained by the design of the website template itself. However, I can offer you two suggestions.

      a) We have introduced a ‘Search’ toolbar place right on top of all other widgets on the right side. You may type your keywords there and search for the recipe.

      b) If it does not yield the desired recipe, then we suggest you try this method:

      1. Go to the Recipe Index.
      2. Press the keys Ctrl+F or Ctrl+f
      3. Type a keyword in the small box that will pop up top-left or bottom-right and press Enter.
      4. The word search will highlight related words.

Often when readers request a recipe or cannot find a particular recipe, this is how I retrieve it for them.

Hope this helps and works for now, until we find a concrete solution to this issue.

      Happy Diwali,
      Prathiba.
